Is there any way I can treat ingrown toenails?

They hurt, but they dont bleed , and puss does'nt leak out. I've had them before, but I gotten them taken out by the doctor, it was painful, and I don't want to go again. I wan't a painless way to treat them myself. Is there any way I can treat ingrown toenails?
Soak the affected foot in a warm bath. If the nail is long enough, cut a v-shaped notch in the middle of the nail. Let the entire nail grow out until the edge of the nail is even with the end of the toe- never cut it shorter than that, and always cut the nails straight across. If you can lift up the edge of the nail, you can put a wedge of cotton wool under it for support as it grows out. Remove the cotton, soak the foot, and replace the cotton each day. Also, you are getting the ingrown nails for a reason, and will continue to get them until you eliminate the cause. Either the socks are too snug against the toes, or your shoes are too small across the toe cap, or just too small for your foot. You are also likely cutting the nails too short, and they have no other way to refer the pressure than at the sides. It forces the nail to grow downward and in at the sides. While the nail is growning out, try to wear open toe shoes or no shoes/socks as much as you can. Make sure when you put on socks to pull a bit out from the toes before putting on your shoes. Make sure you have a thumb space of room in front of the toes, check the space while you are standing in the shoes and pay attention when you walk. Your toes should have room to allow you to spread your toes out slightly, and should never ever hit the toe of the shoe. Preventing ingrown toenails is a lot easier than removing them, and less painful as well. The nail will grow out, it will just take time. And while you are waiting, it's a good time to fix the shoe/sock problem to prevent a revisit. If you don't, the ingrown toenail you currently have will not go away, it will get worse, and you will just get another one later. Is there any way I can treat ingrown toenails?
Take some pain meds about 45 mins before and soak in in warm water with epsom salts for about 30 mins then take a clean nail file( I use the ones that are on toe nail clippers b/c they are curved) and just dig it out. It won't be painless, but it won't be that bad either. You can also have your dr do it, they have some kind of chemical that keeps them from growing back. My husband did this about a year ago after repeated ingrowns and has not had any trouble since. Good luck!
surgery is the only way.
I was going to say excactly what The Mom said, but she has said it all.

Follow her advice as it is correct.
Stretch the skin away from the nail and get a plaster and tape it down, so the nail is not touching the skin, this will take off the pressure and therefore, release the pain on the skin.

Also, to prevent another ingrown toenail in future, when cutting toenails, remember to cut the nail in a straight line across, not curved as this is how (with the help of tight shoes) it starts.

Glad to help!
make an appointment with a podiatrist or go to an urgent care.
It's not completely painless, but I puncture the area where I can see pus under the skin (with a needle or finger nail clippers) and squeeze it out. Take some pain medication about a half hour before if you think it'll hurt too much.
