Why would a child fingernails and toenails fall off?

Doctor said it's a virus. I tend to think it's something more serious causing this. Why would a child fingernails and toenails fall off?
Hello Rusty R,

Falling-off-nails is in medics described by the word 'Onychomadesis'. The handresearch Nail Encyclopedia describes several causes of this nail condition (varying from: nail infection to systemic illness). You can read more about this condition at:

PS. Sometimes falling-off-nails can be a harmless condition as well, therefore ... please consult your general practioner about the nails of your child!

it's called a second opinion or third or however many would make you feel comfortable that your child is receiving sufficient care, don't give up on your child they are too important you make them tell you what you need to know, make sure they do EVERYTHING they can because they should, Don't stop until you feel your baby will be okay! hope this helps a bit, much luck to you and your little love!
You should visit another doctor and get a second opinion.
