Has anyone lost a toenail and it never grew back? Mine has been gone over a month and isn't growing back.?

I had a very heavy object fall on my big toenail. The skin where it used to be has a deep dent in it. I lost it comepletely.Has anyone lost a toenail and it never grew back? Mine has been gone over a month and isn't growing back.?
It depends whether you've damaged the nail bed or not.





Nails are grown from a specialised area of skin called a nail bed. The cells gradually reproduce and dead ones get mixed with a hard protein called keratin, which makes your nail. When you get an injury much like you've described, someimes this gets damaged. Usually it recovers, but if the cells at the nail bed have all been killed off it may not.





Some people's take a month, some longer. Some take up to a year.





The vast majority do grow back but you'll just have to wait and see. If it hasn't grown back within a year, it's not going to.





And no, I'm afraid there's nothing you can do about it. On the plus side (assuming you had no other injuries to your big toe like a broken bone), other than cosmetic issues it won't give you any long-term problems- it just looks unusual.Has anyone lost a toenail and it never grew back? I had a pressure washer dropped on my foot and lost my big toe nail. It took awhile but it grew back. When i finally had half a toe nail back and when to the beach i just painted half the toe nail and the skin so i didn't have to look at it :) Kind of gross but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.
Yeah, this happened to me. I was tryna sneak my sis in to da bingo (she was only 12 or 13, needa be 14 to get in, she just turned 14 on the 20th) %26amp; I was being slow %26amp; kinda cautious to get in the bingo. This guy opened the door (which is really heavy !!!) %26amp; it hurt a LOT !!! I think I even ended up crying. Anywayz, I believe it took a long time for my toenail to grow back. It was my BIG toe too! :(





My Mom chewed her fingernails %26amp; for as long as I could remember she's had really short nails. My sis bought this stuff which helps your fingernails grow %26amp; put it on our Mom. It worked !!! For as long as I can remember she's had really short nails. I thought they were fake !!! lol. I hadda pull back a lil on her nails just to make sure they weren't false nails.





Just be patient. Your toenail will grow back :)
nope... mine came back... 3 month from nothing to complete.
same thing happened to my friend except a heavy object fell on his head. it never grew back.
oh no that sucks cause it won't grow back...my sister's toenail broke off when she was 10 years old and now she is 19 and it never grew
It takes a very long time for a toe nail to come back. Matter fact I had a garage door take out my big toe nail years ago and it took something like 4-6 months to grow back and be normal again. It was a long time!
no but my friend did it will grow back it just takes awhile
