It is probable that you have toenail fungus. Whatever you do - don't go to the doctor. They'll put you on dangerous antibiotics.
Treat topically with an over the counter topical product (the cheapest one that you can find) and dose yourself with vitamin C (you'll want 500-1000 mg capsules) - 4-8,000 mg per day - and oil of oregano capsules (they kill bacteria). You MAY lose the nail, depending on how severe your case is. Expect to see pretty rapid improvement!Toenail fungus?
I've never heard of a Dr. treating a fungal infection with antibiotics, as they are used in the treatment of bacterial infections. Since the oregano is supposed to kill bacteria, not fungus, it's not likely to be very effective either.
Yes, ask your pharmacist to recommend something. Is very important to keep feet extra clean and make sure nothing gets under that toenail.
Believe it or no mussel rub such as ben gay will get rid of it.

Yes it is and no, nothing over the counter will work. You will need to go to a dermatologist. The treatment is long and will require the removal of your toenail. At least the most effective method I have seen.
