It'll sting more if it's used on an open wound that's actively bleeding (which you should never use it on), but more people are put off by the smell of it than the pain, so it shouldn't be too bad.

It will sting for a couple of second, byut in the long run it will make it feel better. Just make sure it isn't an open wound.
