Ingrowing toenail !! HELP ?

my big toenail is is ingrowing and a type of scab is covering the corner of the nail, ive seen theres a skinny piece of nail there underneath the scabby bit thats all.. ive had surgery before and i defonately dont want to go again.. any tips would be great !!Ingrowing toenail !! HELP ?

I've had problems with ingrown toenails. The problem went away when i wore a larger shoe size haven't had any problems since then.

my hubby just got his really really bad ingrown toenail cut out by the doctor but now it hurts more what can we do to make it better..they also gave him vicodin and an anit boantics to make sure it doesnt get infected...so does anyone know what we can do to make it feel better..he took the meds and tried to soak it in water but that made it worst. so we were thinking neosprin but not sure

Try some Motrin/Advil. You may also want to call the MD who did the procedure and ask his advice. They may be able to give additional advice as I'm sure you're not the only one he's had this happen too. Generally with an ingrown toenail, there may be an area that has a wound to it where the nail was digging into the skin. It takes time for it to heal. Just watch that area is not infected with pus, increased redness or red streaks from the area. If that's the case, call your MD immediately. You may need a different antibiotic.

are you serious??? ';minerals and stuff'; won't do anything for an ingrown toenail...you need to cut the nail away from the skin that it is pushing on. you need to go to the nail aisle at walmart or where ever and get some tools...clippers wont get down the side like you need and then take care of it. if you cant do it yourself then you will need to go to the doctor...if you don't it will just get worse and infected.Ingrown toenail?
idk. but i had one and my doctor said she could either cut at an angle on the corner or i could do it myself. then you can soak it in salt water.
Where did you hear that? How about warm water and epsom salt?

So I'm going to the podiatrist today nd I have an ingrown toenail so I'm prbly going to have the surgery today nd so I Was wondering if they hurt nd overall what happens nd I'd like to know from ppl who actually had the surgeryIngrown toenail surgery questions(only ppl who've had it)?
I've had all 4 borders of both my big toenails removed AND I worked for a podiatrist for many years. The part that hurts the most really is getting your toe numbed up. After that, you shouldn't feel a thing. If you do, tell your doctor right away!


Since working for a podiatrist, the one thing I would insist on is your doctor should use a chemical on your nail bed where the nail was removed (the doc I work for uses phenol). That stops the nail from just growing back and becoming ingrown again! Your toenail will look a little smaller than it did, but it really shouldn't be noticible.


I've had patients who have played soccer the next day, I even drove to Chicago the same day after having my surgery!

i had it all they did to me was that thy cut the skin with the nail and it really doesn't hert that Much jest a little during the surgery but i wouldn't call it surgery it jest makes you nerves oh and they tell you to put gel on it and put the leg/Hand in worm water or something

I have had an ingrown toenail for about a year and I don't know what to do I mean I'm going to call the doctors to see when I can get in but I need relief before then. soak your foot in tea tree oil wih warm water and keep pushing back the side skin. tea tree oil will help stop infection. taking a garlic supplement will help leep the infection from spreading. i recommend at least a 1000 mg supplement. in gel form//ordorless.Ingrown Toenail??? please help?

Warm epsom salt soaks.They can help relieve it a bit till you see the doctor. Had a bad one last october and it was hell. Good luck.
